Ada Small Business Owner Amy Boatwright urges Oklahomans to vote no on State Question 832

ADA, OK (June 8, 2026) – In a new video, NFIB member and Oklahoma small business owner Amy Boatwright warns that if Oklahomans do not vote no on State Question 832, small business owners will face painful choices: hire fewer entry-level workers, cut benefits, or raise their prices on consumers.

The full video may be viewed HERE and above. Excerpts are below:

We do hire high school students and college students when they’re on break, and we cannot pay them what minimum wage would become. We would probably have to look at the benefits that we offer, and those would have to decrease to make up the difference. We would have to raise the prices that the customers pay, which would have a negative impact and therefore hurt our business. It just would not be good all the way around.

The general public does not understand, for the most part, how thin our margins are. […] It’s a cycle. Yes, there’s a lot coming in, but there’s so much that goes out. And a lot of that is payroll. That’s the biggest expense for most small businesses. It’s just the constant increase in our expenses that is the hardest part of being a small business owner right now.”
