'There remains a lot of uncertanty'

State Director Hunter Loggins says the Optimism Index for October reflects the challenges facing many of the state’s Main Street businesses.

“Owners may be a bit more hopeful heading into the holidays, but there remains a lot of uncertainty because of high prices, disappointing sales, and a lack of qualified workers.

“Inflation is still driving up the cost of doing business, so people are being more careful about what they buy.”
