The event gave owners the opportunity to engage with legislators and other leaders
Small business owners from across Tennessee gathered at the State Capitol on Tuesday for NFIB’s annual Small Business Day. The event gave NFIB members the opportunity to engage with legislators and state leaders on key issues affecting Main Street businesses.
The morning began with Gov. Bill Lee’s Policy Director Michael Hendrix giving an overview of the governor’s 2025 agenda.
Newly elected representatives Renea Jones (HD 4), an NFIB member from Unicoi, and Rick Scarbrough (HD 33) from Clinton shared what life is like as “freshmen” legislators.

Labor & Workforce Commissioner Deniece Thomas engaged attendees on how the state is working to add jobs, while Commerce & Insurance Commissioner Carter Lawrence shared that average workers’ compensation rates are about to drop for the 12th year in a row.
