First in Re-ignited NFIB Small Business Roundtable Series a Success

With a progressive legislative agenda gripping the Capitol and a state budget already awash in red ink before its June 15 due date, NFIB members had a lot on their mind, which is why the first in a re-ignited series of NFIB Small Business Roundtables was timely. On May 26, members had the opportunity to talk directly to and hear directly from Assemblyman Josh Hoover in the Folsom office of NFIB member Leslie Roper Day & Associates. “The old way of holding one small business day at the Capitol for members and elected officials to exchange their concerns can’t do the job by itself anymore,” said NFIB California State Director John Kabateck. “In this era of warp-speed communications, lawmakers can get easily distracted just keeping up, which is why we are re-igniting our Small Business Roundtable series to serve as a constant reminder about the worries of small businesses through the most effective medium of all—one-on-one meetings.” Lawmakers care about the concerns of their constituents and the policies that affect the communities they represent. In fact, elected officials gain a better understanding of legislation they enact when they hear directly from small business owners. Interested in knowing about the Small Business Roundtables coming up or would like to be more involved in the planning and hosting of them? Let NFIB Grassroots Manager Taylor Criddle know at taylor.criddle@nfib.org. NFIB California thanks Assemblyman Hoover for his time and encourages our members to check out his new blog, Point of Order, which he co-hosts with fellow Assemblyman Joe Patterson.
