Labor groups push strongly
to allow employees the ability to choose which doctor they visit for treatment
after a workplace injury. This creates a myriad of problems for the employer. A
workers’ compensation system that allows employees to choose their care have
higher premiums of between 20 to 25 percent. This is because employees may go
to the wrong type of doctor, which would result in referrals to other
specialists. NFIB strongly opposes any
legislation that would allow employees to have free reign over who provides the
care in a workforce compensation claim.
