(November 29, 2016) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), America’s leading small business advocate, issued the following statement from NFIB President and CEO Juanita Duggan regarding the nomination of Congressman Tom Price, M.D., as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services by President-elect Donald J. Trump:
“Small business owners are thrilled to see Congressman Tom Price, a physician and a leader in the House on health care and budgetary policy, selected to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. NFIB battled Obamacare all the way to the Supreme Court because we knew it would harm small businesses and their employees. The cost of health insurance remains the number one problem for our members. Our surveys show that small businesses have seen their costs increase every year since the law went into effect. It’s time for real reform.
“We look forward to working with the Trump administration on health reform that will help small businesses control rising costs and increase flexibility for their employees.”
Congressman Price has a long record of support for small business priorities. He has been awarded the NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business in all six of his terms in the U.S. House and was endorsed for re-election in 2016.
