Date: August 21, 2018

NFIB cites Tenney’s voting record and strong support for pro-small business issues

Washington, D.C. (August 21, 2018) – NFIB, the nation’s leading small business advocacy association is endorsing Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-22) for re-election to the United States House of Representatives. NFIB announced the endorsement today in Utica, New York.

“Congresswoman Tenney has been a true champion for New York small businesses during her time in the U.S. House,” said NFIB’s New York State Director Greg Biryla. “As a longtime NFIB member and owner of her family’s commercial printing and manufacturing business, she truly understands the challenges small businesses face because she lives them day in and day out. She has been a dedicated supporter of efforts to eliminate onerous and costly regulations and played an important role in making tax reform for small businesses a reality. We are confident that Congresswoman Tenney will continue to stand up for small businesses. On behalf of our members in New York’s 22nd Congressional District, we are proud to endorse Congresswoman Tenney for re-election to the United States House of Representatives.”

Congresswoman Tenney has demonstrated a solid voting record as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, earning a 100 percent rating so far this Congress from NFIB. The list of votes is available here.

“As an owner of our family’s small manufacturing business located in the heart of Upstate New York, I have a unique understanding of the struggles facing our small business community. Small businesses create nearly 70 percent of all new jobs and employ 4 million people in our state alone. However, in New York, our small businesses fight each day to remain competitive in a highly unfriendly business climate. Our small businesses need a voice, and that’s why I first ran for office. To this day, I view issues through the lens of a small business owner. As a nearly 30-year NFIB member, I am honored to again receive the endorsement of NFIB. The vital advocacy of NFIB ensures both our legislators and small businesses remain informed on key issues impacting the survival of our small business community. I look forward to continuing to carry the torch for our small businesses in Congress,” said Tenney.

“Congresswoman Tenney’s pro-small business voting record speaks volumes,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “She has been a staunch supporter of issues that truly matter to small businesses in New York’s 22nd Congressional District throughout her time in the U.S. House. Her background as a small business owner gives her a deep understanding of what matters most to small businesses. We are proud to endorse Congresswoman Tenney for re-election to the U.S. House.”

NFIB is the nation’s leading small business advocacy association. Congresswoman Tenney’s endorsement today comes from the NFIB FedPAC, the organization’s political action committee. Small business owners vote in high percentages and they are influential in their communities. NFIB members in New York will work hard to keep Congresswoman Tenney in the U.S. House.
