NFIB Launches Multi-State Campaign Supporting Small Business Candidates

Date: October 18, 2018

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2018 — NFIB, the nation’s leading small business advocacy association, announced the launch of a slate of digital and broadcast advertisements today in support of candidates who have proven their support for the small business voter. NFIB is investing more than $5 million in its 2018 #SmallBizVoter effort that includes advertising, hundreds of thousands of direct mail pieces to key districts, voter guides to every NFIB member throughout the country, and road teams that are being deployed throughout the month.

“In November, pro-small business control of congress is on the line and we’re moving aggressively to ensure that our network of hundreds of thousands of members get out to vote and make an educated choice at the ballot box,” said Brad Close, NFIB Senior Vice President for Public Policy and Advocacy. “At a time when small business optimism is breaking records, regulations are being rolled back, and tax relief is helping drive economic growth and job creation on main street, it is imperative that all Americans who benefit when small businesses thrive turn out to vote.”

Today’s advertising campaign begins with ads supporting Jim Hagedorn (MN-01), Pete Stauber (MN-08), Mike Braun (IN Senate) and Josh Hawley (MO Senate). The ads will run through Election Day.

NFIB’s #SmallBizVoter efforts will be bolstered by road teams in target states that include Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, Missouri and others. These road teams, comprised of NFIB staff member volunteers, will visit local NFIB members to share information on where candidates stand on issues that affect the small business community. Since 2001, the road team program has served as an opportunity to build relationships between endorsed candidates and NFIB members. In addition, NFIB is activating its nationwide grassroots network of members with resources to educate their networks and communities about small business issues and who supports them.

NFIB has endorsed 274 congressional candidates in 2018 through a transparent process that reflects the views of the organization’s membership governed by protecting incumbents who are proven allies of small business, electing pro-small business candidates in open seats, and challenging anti-small business incumbents. NFIB endorses a candidate solely on their position and record on small business issues, regardless of party affiliation.
