Raleigh, N.C. (August 13, 2019) – NFIB, the nation’s leading small business advocacy association, endorsed Greg Murphy for election to the United States House of Representatives. The special election to replace U.S. Rep. Walter Jones in North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District will be held on September 10.
“Dr. Greg Murphy’s background as a small business owner and his proven record in the North Carolina state Legislature demonstrate that he is a true advocate for small business in our state,” said NFIB’s North Carolina State Director Gregg Thompson. “He represents an area that contains both urban and rural small businesses and is well-versed in issues affecting both. Murphy understands the issues small businesses face running their businesses and maintains an open door when it comes to discussing issues that concern NFIB members in North Carolina. His background as a physician additionally gives him an asset when it comes to understanding one of the biggest challenges facing small business owners in our state: access to health care that is affordable, flexible, and predictable. We know that Murphy will take his knowledge and experience to Washington and will continue to be a champion for small businesses in North Carolina and across the country.”
Dr. Greg Murphy is a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He has been serving the 9th district since 2015 and has remained focused on health care reform and efforts to conserve tax dollars throughout his time in the state legislature. Murphy earned an 88 percent voting record during his time in the North Carolina state Legislature. Murphy is a small business owner, running his own private practice with more than 50 employees on payroll.

Murphy’s endorsement comes from NFIB FedPAC, the organization’s political action committee. NFIB FedPAC is funded by NFIB member donations above membership dues. Decisions made by NFIB FedPAC are managed by a member-driven grassroots evaluation process. Small business owners are influential in their communities and NFIB members in North Carolina will work hard to elect Greg Murphy for Congress.
