Washington, D.C. (January 30, 2017) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) today issued the following statement from President and CEO Juanita Duggan in response to President Donald J. Trump’s executive order requiring that two regulations must be repealed for every one approved:
“According to NFIB research, small business owners rank unreasonable government regulations as their second most important problem. Regulations have been in their top three concerns for 96 consecutive months. The President’s order is a good first step on the long road toward eliminating ball-and-chain regulations so small businesses can create jobs and expand the economy.
“The implementing rules to be issued by the Office of Management and Budget should emphasize that the extraordinary costs and complexity of regulations falls hardest on America’s small and independent businesses. Regulatory agencies and OMB should keep that in mind as they execute the President’s order.
“We are eager to learn more details on President Trump’s initiative, but we are very pleased that he understands the critical need for regulatory reform.”
