August 26 is Vermont's 2014 Primary Election

As the
summer sped by, Vermont’s Primary Election Day is upon us.  Please share the following “Vermont Election Dates
to Remember” with your family members and employees. Also, NFIB/VT would like
to thank retiring legislators Rep.

and Rep.
Thomas F. Koch of Barre

The Vermont Secretary of
State’s Office
is solely responsible for elections compliance.  They have provided a list of frequently asked
questions that should assist you this election cycle. If you have any other questions please contact

List
– Check out the list of candidates running, note that Independent
Candidates are not Major Party Candidates and will not be listed on Primary Election
Ballots, but will rather appear on the General Election Ballot, which is
scheduled for November 4, 2014.

Vermont Election Dates to Remember

August 20 – If you are not on the voter
checklist in the town you reside and want to vote on August 26 in the Primary
Election, you must apply by 5:00 p.m. to be added to the voter
checklist.  Town Clerks’ offices must be
kept open from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to receive applications.  This is also the last day to submit a
simultaneous request for an application for addition to the checklist
accompanying an early or absentee ballot request.

August 25 – There is still a couple of
days if you or someone you know won’t be able to get to your polling location
on August 26 the deadline for voters, family members, authorized persons, or
health care providers to request an absentee ballot is 5:00 p.m. or the closing
of the Town Clerk’s office on August 25.

August 26 – A Primary Election shall be held in
Vermont on the fourth Tuesday in August in each even numbered year for the
nomination of candidates of major political parties for all offices to be voted
for at the succeeding General Election (Tuesday, November 4, 2014). Click here

Please note that Independent
candidates are not major party candidates and will not be listed on Primary
