Free-Market Think Tank Seeking Feedback on State Regulations From New York’s Small Businesses

In December, Governor Cuomo signed legislation that will ease the financial burden for many New York’s small businesses who incur minor regulatory violations and grant them time to correct their non-compliance. NFIB worked with legislators and the Governor’s office to see this reform enacted in 2019, but much more work remains.

New York’s small businesses must comply with thousands of state regulations, a daunting and overly burdensome task that drives up costs and deters growth. The Empire Center for Public Policy, Inc., an independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit think tank based in Albany, has created a website to gather information and feedback from New York’s small business owners about the day-to-day regulatory obstacles standing in your way. NFIB and the Empire Center work together regularly on a variety of issues, including taxes, spending, and government regulations. The input offered by NFIB members will help inform the Empire Center research on the state’s regulatory environment and whether the rules are working as intended. The submission deadline is Feb. 14, 2020. For more information or to submit a regulation, visit  https://www.deregulateny.com/.
