CARSON CITY, Nev., Jan. 24, 2023—From Tray Abney, Nevada state director for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), on Gov. Joe Lombardo’s State-of-the-State Address last night.

“Nevada’s small businesses applaud Gov. Joe Lombardo’s strong commitment to job creators and to ensuring that Nevada moves forward in a fiscally prudent way. After being put through the wringer over the last few years, his proposals to cut payroll and commerce taxes will ensure that NFIB members and all small businesses across the Silver State can get back on their feet and employ more Nevadans. Governor Lombardo’s sensible investments in education and health care, coupled with his fiscally responsible proposals to invest and save for a rainy day, are exactly the right approach. We look forward to working with the governor and the Legislature this session on all issues that affect small business owners and their ability to thrive.”

While there is no standard definition of a “small business,” the typical NFIB member employs 10 people and reports gross sales of about $500,000 a year. The NFIB membership is a reflection of American small business.
