Small business owners are anxious to get back to work
ANNAPOLIS, (May 5, 2020) — The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), which represents thousands of small businesses in Maryland, sent its policy recommendations to Governor Larry Hogan, Comptroller Peter Franchot, and members of the General Assembly today. These recommendations provide Maryland small businesses a safe and successful path towards recovery. The following comments are attributable to Mike O’Halloran, state director of NFIB in Maryland:
“Today we sent Governor Hogan NFIB’s policy recommendations on getting Maryland’s small businesses on a path to a successful and safe recovery. These recommendations will take the concerted efforts of the Hogan Administration, Comptroller Franchot, and the General Assembly to make them a reality. We are confident taken together, these policies will ensure Maryland’s job creators have the tools and guidance necessary to get Maryland working again.
“Our members have been faced with an unprecedented crisis. They have been focused on creating new operational standards, dealing with new fiscal realities, and the potential of increased liability if workers or customers get sick.
“These policy recommendations are based upon NFIB’s constant efforts to survey our membership and longstanding principles to promote and protect small businesses. We are hopeful the Governor, the Comptroller, and lawmakers will work with NFIB to make these recommendations a reality.”
