UPDATE: NFIB Helps Defeat COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate Bills

Date: October 13, 2021

Updated Oct. 21, 2021

NFIB State Director Annie Spilman will testify before the House State Affairs Committee today in opposition to House Bill 155, legislation that would open the door to costly legal action against small businesses concerning COVID-19 vaccines.

“Our members continue to take the pandemic seriously and will continue to follow state and federal law, but this is a complicated issue, and our concern is that the legislation as written would create a new cause of action against small business owners,” Spilman said.

“Our small business members are struggling with the labor shortage and disruptions in the supply chain caused by the pandemic,” Spilman said. “The last thing they need right now is the added cost and distraction of unnecessary legal actions.”

HB 155 and its Senate companion, Senate Bill 51, failed to pass during the special session. “This was a big victory for Texas’ small businesses,” Spilman said.
