NFIB Tennessee Welcomes New Leadership and Labor Advisory Council Members

NFIB has 6,500 small business members in Tennessee who establish the organization’s positions through regular issues surveys. The NFIB Tennessee Leadership Council is comprised of 25 small business leaders who engage lawmakers frequently, offer additional policy input to NFIB Tennessee leadership and actively support NFIB programs. The NFIB Labor Advisory Council meets regularly to review and provide feedback on employment legislation to NFIB leadership in Tennessee.

Acosta is Vice President of Brand Strategy at Delta Dental of Tennessee, a longtime NFIB member, and a recognized leader in Middle Tennessee. She is president-elect for Cable Nashville, board president for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, immediate past chair of the Business Conditions Council of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Nashville, among many other business and community endeavors.

Moschel is a recognized attorney in labor-management relations and federal contracting. He negotiates significant labor contracts and represents employers before the National Labor Relations Board and Department of Labor. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Gilda’s Club of Middle Tennessee and an active member of the American Bar Association.

“Missy Acosta and Michael Moschel are exceptional leaders who have been very active with NFIB for many years, helping advance the cause of small businesses in a variety of ways,” said Jim Brown, Tennessee state director. “We’re thrilled that they’re our new chairs who will help promote various NFIB efforts and be sure that the Voice of Small Business is heard in Nashville and in Washington, D.C.”

“It’s always been an honor to be a part of the NFIB Leadership Council,” said Acosta. “I look forward to helping represent NFIB members across the state and make sure the needs of small businesses are understood by our policymakers so that Tennessee remains a business-friendly state.”

“NFIB has a significant role in educating state lawmakers on the potential impact of labor policy proposals,” Moschel said. “It’s an honor to lead our Labor Advisory Council to ensure small businesses are protected from any harm, especially during these challenging times.”

Brown said the NFIB team is grateful to Brian Hunt, past chair of the Leadership Council and Chief Operations Officer at Southern Champion Tray in Chattanooga, as well as Cary Rotter, past chair of the Labor Advisory Council and owner of Comfort Keepers in Memphis, for their many contributions. Both will continue to serve on the Leadership and Labor Advisory councils.
