Small Business Voice Heard on the Hill

A letter from NFIB/Texas Executive Director Will Newton

Greetings NFIB friends and family,

I hope you are enjoying a New Year with good health and strong expectations for a most productive and profitable 2018.

On Monday, January 15 NFIB/Texas had the honor of hosting our good friend US Senator John Cornyn for a small business round table discussion and press conference centered on the recently passed federal tax relief measure. We thank NFIB members Josh Agrelius (Re-Bath Austin) and Robert Mayfield (Wally Burger Express and Dairy Queen) for sharing their stories on the benefits of the tax savings. Discussions ranged from expanding business operations, building new facilities, enhanced employee benefits, and increases in wages for employees. Here is some of the media coverage from that event:

We plan on hosting Senator Cornyn at more round tables across the state so we can share with him your thoughts on the tax relief and other needs of small business. With that, I would ask for your input on what tax relief means to you and your business. Do you plan on hiring, expanding, investing in new equipment or inventory? Please share your story with us so that I can make your voice heard with lawmakers in Washington, D.C. and in Austin. It is of extreme importance that you share your plans so that we may better serve you and bring about stronger and more effective proposals for the decision makers in our national and state capitol. Please email me at your earliest convenience and become a part of the solution.

Thank you,

Will Newton
