NFIB members from around the state came to Columbia recently for NFIB/South Carolina’s Small Business Day at the Capitol. Speakers at this year’s event included Karen Harned of the NFIB Small Business Legal Center, state Sen. Thomas Alexander and state Rep. Todd Atwater.
“It is scary times for small business when it comes to regulations from the current administration,” said Harned, executive director of the legal center. “We are fighting the administration in the courts and are notching victories that help protecting small business.”
Representative Atwater, meanwhile, unveiled two bills he said would automatically set an ending date for state regulations. “This will help reduce the number of burdensome regulations that small business owners face,” he said.
“It was a great event,” said Ben Homeyer, state director of NFIB/South Carolina, the state’s largest small-business association. “Events like this really showcase the importance that small business owners have on the success of the South Carolina economy.”
