The National Federation of Independent Business, South Carolina’s and the nation’s leading small-business association, today announced the endorsement of six members of the U.S. House of Representatives running for reelection.
“We support the members of Congress who support small business, and each of these members has achieved a strong NFIB voting record, taking the small-business position on issues as Obamacare, lawsuit abuse and sensible regulations,” said Ben Homeyer, state director of NFIB/South Carolina.
The candidates are:
  • Mark Sanford (1st District), 83 percent voting record
  • Joe Wilson (2nd District), 100 percent
  • Jeff Duncan (3rd District), 100 percent
  • Trey Gowdy (4th District), 100 percent
  • Mick Mulvaney (5th District), 100 percent
  • Tom Rice (7th District) 100 percent
“Year in and year out, each of these members of Congress has supported small, family businesses by consistently voting for legislation that will help our Main Street businesses grow and create jobs,” Homeyer said.
NFIB has 3,800 dues-paying members in South Carolina representing a cross-section of the state’s economy. The endorsements come from NFIB’s SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and are based on positions regarding key small-business issues including health care, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues.
Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote for the candidates in the June 10 primary and again in November.
