NFIB Members Made a Big Difference with the Nebraska Legislature

NFIB Nebraska members made a huge difference in the Legislature this year. Thanks to their taking action when called upon, small businesses now have a measure of liability protection against unfair COVID-19 lawsuits, some reductions in income taxes, a little more security against increasing property taxes, and greater broadband access soon to come to underserved areas.

And, bad-for-small-business bills were killed or stalled in committee. No one speaks with greater authority on small-business issues than small-business owners themselves, and no legislator ever ignores the email or phone call of a small-business owner whom they know to be a pillar of the community. It’s NFIB’s mission to release the power of small-business owners, and the numbers tell an impressive story. When NFIB put out the alert to its members, small-business owners responded in a big way.

  • 2021 saw a 400% increase in emails compared to 2020 and an 842% increase compared to 2019.
  • This was due largely to the 400% increase in actionable items.
  • There was a 700% increase in 2021 from 2020 in the number of members contacting their senators on important items as well.
  • That also means that in 2021, 88% of the Nebraska Legislature heard from NFIB members.

Thank you to all the members who helped contribute to these victories. If you’d like to help deliver future victories let us know what issues you care most about by checking out the NFIB video below.
