NFIB members met virtually today with U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis’ staff to discuss the proposed “Build Back Better Act,” federal legislation that would ultimately hurt North Carolina’s and the nation’s small businesses.
“I truly appreciate Senator Tills’ staff for taking time to talk to our members about this onerous bill,” NFIB State Director Gregg Thompson said.
The federal bill has cleared the House and is awaiting action in the Senate. If passed, it would impose a new 3.8% tax on active pass-through business income (small business surtax), create new federal paid family and medical leave program, and significantly increase penalties for employment law violations.
