NFIB Endorses Mark Walker for Congress

Date: October 13, 2014

The National Federation of Independent Business, North Carolina’s leading small-business association, today endorsed Mark Walker for Congress in the 6th District.

“Mark Walker would take much-needed real-world business experience to the House,” said Gregg Thompson, state director NFIB/North Carolina. “Prior to becoming a pastor, Mark Walker worked in finance management for Flow Automotive, and he served on the budget and finance team of the Greensboro Coliseum, the largest entertainment venue in the region.

“Mark Walker understands the challenges small-business owners face in balancing a budget and making payroll,” Thompson said. “Mark Walker supports sensible regulations and a streamlined tax code that would greatly reduce the burden on small businesses as well as families.”

NFIB Vice President of Political Lisa Goeas agreed. “Mark Walker is clearly the best choice for the 6th District. His opponent, Laura Fjeld, says she supports small business, but Fjeld supports a 30-percent increase in the federal minimum wage and upholding the Affordable Care Act, even though both positions would be disastrous for small business.”

“That’s why we need to send Mark Walker to Congress,” Goeas said.

Mark Walker’s endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and is based on his record and positions on key small-business issues including health care, taxes and labor and regulatory issues.

NFIB has 8,000 dues-paying members in North Carolina, representing a cross section of the state’s economy. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the small-business vote on Election Day.
