The Climate Community Protection Act could spell disaster for New York’s small businesses and consumers.
Statement Attributable to Greg Biryla, NFIB’s New York State Director:
“The CCPA might be well intended, but its consequences could spell disaster for New York’s small businesses and consumers who already pay among the highest energy costs in the nation. This bill relies on command-and-control carbon elimination mandates across every sector of our economy but provides no energy replacement strategy or fiscal implementation plan: businesses could be hammered with billions in new energy costs and taxes; farms and builders have no viable alternatives for their tractors and equipment; and homeowners could face tens of thousands of dollars in additional costs to replace home heating furnaces and standard appliances. Protecting our environment and improving our economy are not mutually exclusive. New Yorkers need a plan that includes all stakeholders, not more Albany mandates.”
