Give Small Businesses in New York a Regulatory Break

Date: December 04, 2018

NFIB penned an op-ed published in Rochester’s Democrat & Chronicle urging Gov. Cuomo to sign into law a small business regulatory reform bill currently sitting on his desk. The legislation would allow small businesses to correct a first-time violation of a regulation, rather than pay a substantial fine, and would require state agencies to provide more guidance and literature to small businesses.

Greg Biryla, New York’s State Director said, “New York’s high tax burden is well known, but just as stifling to the small business economy is the aggressive, punitive enforcement of newly enacted and often poorly communicated mandates and regulations.”

“Every community in our state benefits when small businesses succeed, hire, innovate, and grow. Main Street needs a state government that’s a partner, not just a toll collector. By signing this legislation into law as soon as possible, Governor Cuomo has an opportunity to improve the State’s business climate and reorient its regulatory bureaucracy toward cooperation and a shared goal of compliance, safety, and prosperity.”

The Governor has until Dec. 7 to sign or veto this legislation. Please take a moment to send him a message today!
