Tech Company Tackles Accounting for #TXSmallBiz

I first met Brian Simmons, the Director of Products for ScaleFactor, when my dear friend Karla (Brian’s wife) suggested we introduce our husbands and all enjoy a meal together since we share the same interest in locally owned restaurants. Initially, I thought what Brian did for work was fascinating, but when I learned about the kind of financial and accounting solutions ScaleFactor was providing for other small businesses and how those accounting solutions and automation help break down tax complexity, I told him you all should become an NFIB member.

Now more than ever small business needs help navigating the convoluted world of taxes. Tax reform is one of our foremost national and state issues that NFIB is advocating to change. In NFIB’s 2016 Texas Problems and Priorities Survey we found that of the top 10 problems for small business in Texas, number six is federal taxes on business income, number seven is tax complexity, and number eight is frequent changes in federal tax laws and rules. Needless to say, small businesses needed tax reform yesterday and luckily, ScaleFactor is there to help navigate through all the accounting, financial, and tax needs today.

In 2013, ScaleFactor founder and CEO Kurt Rathmann was determined to find a solution for the accounting problems he was facing as a CFO. He was on a quest to automate the painful, time consuming accounting tasks he and his team were forced to complete manually. In 2014, Kurt started ScaleFactor at his living room table. The company grew from one to four employees before the year’s end.

When I told Kurt that we wanted to make ScaleFactor the September Member of the Month, he had this to say about it:

“Small businesses power the economy, drive innovation, and make the world a better place. As a small business ourselves, we understand the entrepreneur’s journey. We’re excited to be an NFIB member to support the work they do on behalf of small businesses, particularly to ensure regulations that support small business success.”

What makes ScaleFactor a unique NFIB member is the company’s intuitive software that automates accounting, tax, and finance tasks to save business owners time and money. I got a firsthand look at how an entrepreneur can integrate and automate their accounting and bookkeeping, and it was amazing to see all the financial tools at my fingertips, from budgets and balance sheets to expense tracking and invoicing. There were also a number of helpful features including the compliance calendar that helps small business owners to stay on top of upcoming tax requirements and filing deadlines, and the smart forecasting tool that can help plan for future growth.

Aiming to meet the real needs of small businesses, ScaleFactor’s features are continuously evolving, expanding and improving. This small tech company’s trusted experts provide small business customers with adaptable support to conquer their most complex financial needs. ScaleFactor’s team of finance, software development, marketing and sales professionals share a common goal: to empower business owners to make the best strategic and financial decisions.

It’s nice to see how technology can really make the life of small business owner easier, freeing up time for an already busy entrepreneur, and it’s even better to see a small business that helps other small businesses.
