NFIB/TEXAS Member of the Month | October 2015

Date: October 14, 2015 Last Edit: June 14, 2016

With Fall football season in full swing we thought for our October Member of the Month we would profile NFIB/Texas’s biggest cheerleader, small business owner J Eddie Field, the owner and operator of Computer Consultants located in the San Antonio area. He joined NFIB in 2003 and has been one of our biggest supporters ever since. Not only does he attend all of our events and participate in all aspects of NFIB, he also stops by and visits our NFIB/Texas staff in Austin. We know we can always count on J Eddie when we need him, and being a technology genius is always helpful. He saved us at our last meeting in San Antonio when we couldn’t get our power point presentation to work. J Eddie to the rescue.
J Eddie started his small business in 1988. A friend introduced him to the Apple Mac, which he quickly learned how to use, understood all it could do and saw a need to help others use it as well. That is how Computer Consultants was born. He loved this brave new frontier of technology and has continued to be a computer consultant for small business owners now for more than 27 years.

On of his favorite things about owning his small business is that the innovation is unlimited. In his job, he loves solving problems because he knows the solution is always there. The hardest thing for him is the cost of healthcare. Being self-employed makes it hard to find affordable options. Also dealing with over regulation and the over taxing of services carries quite a burden for his small business.

J Eddie learned about NFIB from a friend 12 years ago and has been one of our strongest activists ever since. J Eddie sees the value of his membership by being represented not alone as a small business owner but instead in a group with thousands of fellow small business owners. He recognizes the bigger the voice the bigger the accomplishments will be in the Capitol. J Eddie knows it is very important to be represented at the state level and the federal level. He says by being a member of NFIB he is not just fighting for himself but fighting for his family, his alumni and for the future of free enterprise in America.

Because of his involvement with NFIB over the years J Eddie is no longer afraid to meet and talk to his elected officials. He understands the need and importance for them to hear his side of the story. It is obvious J Eddie is passionate about all things he is involved in, so we are thankful to have him on our team. His energy is contagious and we need more members just like him to help fight the fight for small business in Texas and America. Thank you J Eddie for always being a team player and cheering for NFIB.
