Owners are increasing compensation but could be forced to get by with fewer workers
NFIB State Director Dawn McVea went on WWL radio in New Orleans on Labor Day to talk about how Louisiana’s small businesses are dealing with the state’s tight labor market.
Speaking with guest host Dave Cohen, McVea said small businesses are struggling to find enough qualified job candidates despite an increase in starting pay. She said that’s forcing small business owners to make some difficult decisions.
“The bright spot is that owners are still planning to raise compensation,” but unless they can attract and keep the best employees, owners may be forced to find creative ways to get by with fewer workers.
