SMALL BUSINESS COMMUNITY LOOKS FORWARD TO INCREASED COMPETITION AND MORE JOB CREATION THANKS TO PREVAILING WAGE REFORM

MADISON (July 9, 2015): Today the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) commended members of the Senate and Assembly for voting to support meaningful reform of Wisconsin’s prevailing wage, which was included in the state budget adopted by the Legislature.

“The reforms passed late last night will create growth opportunities for small business which will directly result in increased job growth in our communities,” according to Bill G. Smith, NFIB Wisconsin State Director. “Every taxpayer in the state should be celebrating alongside small business because thanks to these reforms, we will save tax money and increase the competition on projects funded through those very dollars.”

Following adoption by the Senate earlier this week, the Assembly’s vote to concur with the prevailing wage reform amendment means taxpayers and the small business community can take a victory lap.

“This is an excellent start to transforming Wisconsin’s prevailing wage laws. While small employers have the ultimate goal of repealing the law completely, adoption of these reforms is a significant step in the right direction, and will help small business owners create jobs and increase competition for taxpayer funded projects throughout our state,” Concluded Smith.
