Tom Underwood, Kentucky state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, released the following statement today in response to Gov. Matt Bevin’s Red Tape Reduction Initiative:
“This is something we’ve needed for a long time. State government comes out with new rules and regulations every single month. That’s especially tough on small businesses because they can’t afford full-time compliance officers or legal counsel to help them keep up with the changes.
“According to the governor’s office, about 15 percent of the 4,500 regulations currently on the books haven’t been reviewed in over 40 years. That’s ridiculous.
“Governor Bevin’s Red Tape Reduction Initiative is going to help bring Kentucky into the 21st century and help small businesses grow and create jobs. The Red Tape Reduction Initiative is exactly the kind of commonsense program Kentucky needs.”
