WATCH: Small Business Expectations for the 2024 Iowa Legislature

The Iowa Legislature has gaveled into session, where among other issues, we anticipate lawmakers will consider several bills that will promote greater economic opportunity for Iowans. Those policy proposals include:
  • Income Tax Cuts, putting Iowa on the path to potentially eliminating the state income tax over time.
  • Unemployment Insurance Reform, saving employers more than $800 million over five years.
  • Property Tax Relief, laying the groundwork for significant reform over the next few years.
During a virtual event with small business owner members, NFIB State Director Matt Everson previewed some of the reforms job creators can expect to see advance out of the Legislature and participated in a Q&A. “Based on 80 years of surveying our members not only in Iowa but across the country, the best way to get money into the hands of small business owners is just to let you keep more of your money,” Everson said. “As our economy continues to grow even through some of these nationally down times, we’re just going to keep advocating that we give it back to you all or let you keep it.” Don’t forget to download the NFIB Engage App today to stay up to date with legislation that will impact your business at the state or federal level.
