Capitol Roundup - End of Year Employer Reminders

Date: December 02, 2021

Minimum Wage

The standard minimum wage in Illinois will go up to $12 per hour for workers on January 1, 2022. For workers 17 years old and younger the wage will be $9.25 per hour as long as they work less than 650 hours per year. For tipped workers, the wage will be $7.20 per hour, but employers must ensure they are paid no less than the standard minimum wage if tips fall short.

Sexual Harassment Prevention

Employers are required to provide every employee sexual harassment prevention training annually. The Illinois Department of Human Rights provides free on-line training employers can use to meet the requirement. There are also private sector providers who offer training.
