Member Feedback Needed on Medicaid Expansion Proposal

Insure Tennessee is up for debate. How do you feel about it?

Tennessee member feedback needed on Medicaid expansion proposal

Gov. Bill Haslam called a special session on Feb. 2 to debate his Insure Tennessee proposal to expand Medicaid.  NFIB members received a special survey via email and fax asking whether to favor or oppose this proposal. Sixty-five percent of members who responded oppose the proposal, 22 percent favor it and 13 percent were undecided. Not establishing measurable outcomes and tying them to any continuance of the plan is most concerning for members. Many are also suspicious of relying on continuance of federal and/or state funding.

The administration released its waiver request to the public Jan. 8.  The administration’s proposal details are available here and here. Opponents’ views can be found here.

Legislators are asking for more details of the plan, and for more feedback from the grassroots and their districts.  It is critical to be engaged on this important issue, through NFIB’s special survey and by contacting your legislators.

Your voice will be critical in this debate. Please contact State Director Jim Brown (615-874-5288 or [email protected]) with any questions or feedback.
