NFIB Awards Senator Ron Johnson Guardian of Small Business Award

MADISON, Wis. (Sept. 15, 2022) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, awarded Senator Ron Johnson with the Guardian of Small Business Award, NFIB’s most prestigious legislative recognition. “On behalf of Wisconsin’s small businesses, we are proud to name Senator Ron Johnson a Guardian of Small Business today,” said Bill G. Smith, NFIB Wisconsin State Director. “He has been a reliable vote for Wisconsin’s small businesses in Washington and has voted with small businesses consistently.” “I am honored to accept the Guardian of Small Business Award today. Small businesses are the backbone of this country, and I was happy to help them secure tax relief in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” said Senator Ron Johnson. “Without my efforts, our small businesses – which account for approximately 95% of businesses in Wisconsin and throughout America – would not have received any tax relief and would have been put at a significant competitive disadvantage compared to large C-Corps. As a former business owner, I understand what it takes to successfully run a business. I know how small business owners are struggling due to record high inflation, supply chain issues and gas prices today as a direct result of Democrat policies. I experienced what they are facing today during the Carter administration. As long as I represent Wisconsin in the Senate, I promise to continue to fight for small business owners throughout the state and across the country.” “NFIB awards Members of Congress the Guardian of Small Business Award to those who have proven themselves to be real champions of small businesses,” said Brad Close, NFIB President and CEO. “Senator Ron Johnson has proven his dedication to small business by earning a 100% NFIB voting record for the 117th term. He supported legislation that would protect the stepped-up basis tax treatment and an amendment that would protect small businesses from increased IRS audits. Senator Ron Johnson has been a great supporter of small businesses in Wisconsin and beyond and we are pleased to present him with a Guardian Award today.” Find a complete list of the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award recipients from the 117th Congress, please click here. NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with small businesses on key issues identified by small business owners. Those who voted with small business on key issues 70% or more of the time during the 117th Congress earned the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award. NFIB informs lawmakers in advance which votes will be considered NFIB Key Votes and asks lawmakers to support the consensus views of our members. We also remind them that the results will be reported back to the NFIB membership.
