The Tennessee office of NFIB, the state’s leading small business advocacy organization, today presented its coveted Guardian of Small Business award to state Rep. David Hawk (District 5). NFIB made the presentation this morning at Double D Tire & Battery, an NFIB member in Greeneville.

The Guardian of Small Business award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small business. The NFIB Tennessee Leadership Council, an advisory board comprised of NFIB members, voted to present the award to the legislator for his outstanding leadership on small-business issues.

“David Hawk has been a tremendous lifetime supporter of small business,” NFIB State Director Jim Brown said. “Representative Hawk not only has an exceptional voting record with NFIB, but also has worked diligently in his committees to protect our state’s job creators and risk takers. His commitment to low taxes, sensible regulation and less red tape on small business has been crucial in promoting a stable and predictable environment for entrepreneurs.”

“It’s a very high honor to receive the NFIB Guardian of Small Business award because the success of small business is essential to the success of Tennessee,” Hawk said. “Small businesses are the true backbone of my district and our state economy, and I’ll remain committed to ensure they operate on a level playing field and can be successful.”

Hawk chairs the TennCare Subcommittee and is a member of the Education, Insurance, and Finance, Ways & Means committees. He also serves on the Higher Education and Finance, Ways & Means subcommittees.
