The NFIB Mississippi PAC has endorsed Andy Gipson for state agriculture and commerce commissioner. The political action committee is comprised exclusively of NFIB members in Mississippi, and its endorsement is based on a survey of NFIB members throughout the state.
“Andy Gipson is the clear choice for Mississippi’s small businesses, including its family farms,” said Ron Aldridge, NFIB’s state director for Mississippi.
“Small business accounts for 99 percent of Mississippi employers, and agriculture and forestry is the state’s largest industry,” Aldridge said. “Our members believe current Commissioner Andy Gipson can combine the strengths of our farms and other small businesses to help grow Mississippi’s economy.
“Our members have known Andy Gipson well from his 11 years as state representative, where he successfully championed numerous small business issues,” Aldridge said. “While serving in the Legislature, Andy Gipson earned a 95 percent NFIB voting record. He supported small businesses by protecting our fundamental American rights. He fought hard against burdensome and costly regulations and mandates. He opposed excessive lawsuit liabilities that keep small businesses from creating jobs and supporting their communities.
“As a family farmer and small business owner, Andy Gipson knows firsthand the challenges facing our family businesses and their employees,” Aldridge said. “As a state legislator, Andy Gipson always worked with Mississippi’s job creators to find commonsense solutions to difficult problems. He has continued to do so in the year he has served as agriculture commissioner. Today’s endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of the state’s small businesses behind Chaney’s campaign. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for recruiting friends, family members, and acquaintances to vote.
