NFIB STATEMENT ON TODAY'S PROCLAMATION SIGNING
The following
statement may be attributed to NFIB Massachusetts state director, Bill Vernon,
in response to Governor Baker’s proclamation declaring November 28th
and 29th small business weekend in the state of Massachusetts.
The nation’s premier
small business association, the National Federation of Independent Business
(NFIB) was proud to stand with their friends in the business community at the signing
of today’s proclamation. Governor Baker’s
recognition of the economic contribution that small businesses make to our communities
demonstrates to our hard working members that they are respected and
appreciated.
More so than ever, it
is vital that we support our Main Street businesses so that they are able to
give back to the communities where they do business. Unlike a department store
where the money goes into corporate headquarters, shopping small this weekend
ensures that your dollars are remaining close to home.
On behalf of the thousands of members that I
am lucky enough to represent, I thank the Governor for his support and I
encourage everyone to ignore the chaos of black Friday and “shop small” this
weekend amongst your friends and neighbors that also happen to be small business
owners.
