Legislation to "help" small business gets cool reception from owners
New legislation proposed in Lansing that would create a position of “small business director” and a new “small business growth and acceleration board” was the subject of a recent editorial. NFIB’s Michigan State Director Charlie Owens wrote a Letter to the Editor in The Detroit News that states the reasons why a “Small Business Director” appointment by the governor is ironic considering the current governor has attempted to create a new tax on small businesses in the state.
Owens was also interviewed by Frank Beckman on the WJR Frank Beckman show on the same subject.
A recent survey of NFIB members on the issue found that most did not support more “help” from state government in how to run their business.
