Maine’s economic outlook is gaining ground compared to other
states, according to a new report on economic prosperity competition among
states.
Economic outlook is now ranked 40th and in the
past two years has shown marked improvement over the late 2000’s. Only Massachusetts (28) and New Hampshire
(32) rank better among the New England states.
“Using years of economic data and empirical evidence from
each state, the authors identify which policies can lead a state to economic
prosperity,” says the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) on its
website for the 2014 edition “Rich States, Poor States” report.
