Bill could protect small business owners against state environmental regulations that are more strict than their federal counterparts.
Indiana House Panel Passes Anti-Environmental Regulatory Bill
For Indiana’s small business owners burdened by tough environmental regulations, a state committee passed a bill that would bar state agencies from such red tape that is more strict than the federal government.
The bill passed out of the House Environment Affairs Committee 7-6.
If the bill, which is next voted upon by the House, passed the Senate and is signed into law, Indiana would become the 20th state to have such a law on its books, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
A similar bill passed the House last year, but died in a Senate Committee.
