County risk levels for COVID-19 will continue to be assessed every two weeks
Oregon’s two-week freeze aimed at stopping the spread of the coronavirus ended December 3—for now!
The state is urging people not to get too complacent, however. On the official Oregon.gov website, monitoring for any COVID-19 spike will not slacken. “This new health and safety framework uses four different risk levels for counties based on their level of COVID-19 spread—Extreme Risk, High Risk, Moderate Risk, and Lower Risk—effective December 3 … the Oregon Health Authority will reexamine county data … in each subsequent two-week period … and publish county data weekly, but county risk levels will not change until the end of the second week. In the first week, counties will be given Warning Week data to prepare for potential risk level changes. In the second week, county risk levels will be updated based on that week’s data.”
“One passing grade does not a complete report card make,” said NFIB Oregon State Director Anthony Smith. “Small businesses, which have been some of the best at making their places safe for all, will still have to maintain due diligence until the coast is clear on the whole pandemic, which no one can accurately predict.”
When visiting the Oregon.gov website, Smith encouraged small-business owners to scroll down to the “Effective 12/3: Oregon’s Risk and Protection Framework” section and click on the “Guidance by Activity (Table)” tab to review the “Sector Risk Level Guidance Chart,” which you can also go right to by clicking on the graphic below.
On the chart, there is the latest guidance for, among others:
- Eating and drinking establishments
- Retail
- Indoor entertainment establishments
- Indoor recreation and fitness businesses
