New York State Dept. of Labor Releases Guidance on Paid Leave for COVID-19 Vaccinations

Date: April 14, 2021

Effective March 12, all employers are required to allow employees paid leave for a sufficient amount of time, not to exceed four hours, for COVID-19 vaccinations. The New York State Dept. of Labor has released guidance and frequently asked questions for employers.

The paid leave must be given at the employee’s regular rate of pay and cannot be charged against any other accumulated leave time. An employee can use up to four hours for each injection (a maximum of eight hours total). Employers are allowed to require notice.
