Main Street Comment on Vidak Victory

Date: July 25, 2013

SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 25, 2013—From John Kabateck, California executive director for the National Federation of Independent Business:

“NFIB members and all small-business owners in California scored a major win this week with the election of Andy Vidak to the State Senate. Voters in the 16th District recognized that he is a dedicated and experienced small-business owner who understands what it means to sign the front of a paycheck — a qualification for office all too rare in the Legislature these days. NFIB is proud to have endorsed Andy Vidak, and we look forward to working with him to help get Main Street producing jobs once again.

“NFIB must forever remind policymakers that small businesses are not smaller versions of bigger business. They have different difficulties in remaining solvent. The delightful thing about having someone with Andy Vidak’s experience in the Senate is that he understands this fundamentally, and he can help educate his fellow legislators about the care and feeding of the most important job-generating engine of the California economy.”

Note to Editors: According to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy, small businesses make up 99 percent of all businesses in California, employing more than half of the private sector workforce. NFIB is America’s largest small-business association with 22,000 members in California.
