PHOENIX, Jan. 17, 2020—From Chad Heinrich, Arizona state director for NFIB, the state’s and nation’s leading small-business association, after this afternoon’s release of Gov. Doug Ducey’s proposed budget.
“There’s a lot to like for small business in the governor’s budget proposal. From what I’ve seen Governor Ducey’s spending plan doesn’t base itself on wishful thinking when it comes to expected revenue. It’s a budget mindful of the current economic conditions, cautious for the future, and moving forward from a position of strength.
“Nearly 60% of the budget calls for spending on education with important investments in STEM, workforce training and our rural community colleges. A focus on these areas will help our businesses fill the jobs they create in the coming years coming.
“All businesses start small, and that’s why the creation of a business one-stop web portal will be very helpful for new and growing enterprises in Arizona.
“The unprecedented spending commitments in K-12 are focused dollars that will lead to real results, not spending for the sake of spending. Accelerating additional assistance provides school districts a flexible resource to use for teachers, textbooks and other needs.”
