Earlier drafts would have required special signage, employee blood monitoring even for the smallest of businesses
The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) will soon release a new version of its proposed Lead Rule, the first significant update since the 1970s. NFIB previously met with L&I staff to discuss our many concerns with the nearly 60-page draft rule. Earlier versions could have required even small retailers to place special signage in aisles featuring ammunition or lead fishing weight displays, and in some cases, conduct regular blood monitoring of employees having only sporadic contact with these or similar products that may contain lead.
NFIB will review the latest rule proposal once it is released, and provide comments to L&I. We encourage members to do so as well.
