NFIB Small Business Legal Center and the Healthcare Lawsuit
In 2013 the landmark case, NFIB v. Sebelius, the NFIB Small
Business Legal Center stood up when all the other business groups wouldn’t! We
were ridiculed by big business groups and the “intellectual elite” for our
position that the Constitution does not give Congress the authority to force
all of us to buy or do whatever it wants. At the end of the day, we secured
five votes from the U.S. Supreme Court agreeing with our position.
We also showed the legal community
that small business is a powerful force in our judicial system. We established
NFIB as an organization for small business that will intervene whenever and
wherever necessary to stop big government and big labor from stomping on the
U.S. Constitution and the protections it provides all of us to keep government
out of our businesses and out of our lives.
