NFIB's Duggan: After Historic Tax Victory, NFIB to Keep Momentum in 2018 [video]

Date: January 04, 2018

Dear NFIB Member:

We ended 2017 with a historic victory for small business owners. In the closing days of the year, President Trump signed into law the most ambitious small business tax cut plan in more than a generation. NFIB members played a big role in getting the bill through Congress, and as a result, the average small business will save thousands of dollars.

This is why you joined NFIB, and this is why NFIB exists for you. Hear more in my video below.

Seventy-five years ago, NFIB’s founder, Wilson Harder, recognized that small business lacked exclusive representation in the halls of government. That’s why he started NFIB. We represent only small and independent business, and our agenda is determined through a one-member, one-vote balloting process in which you, our members, tell us what’s important to you.

This year, NFIB celebrates our 75th anniversary, and we do so as the longest-standing and most effective business group in the country. Our intention is to remain the voice of small business for the next 75 years. We’ll stick to our core values and will carry those forward to the next generation of small business owners.

Our work on taxes and regulations continues this year. We must protect what we fought for in 2017. In the states, we’ll take a stand against attempts to undo or diminish the relief beginning to happen at the federal level.

That’s one example of why the 2018 elections are so important and why we’re focused on them already. Control of Congress, statehouses, and several governor seats are at stake. Interest groups that favor higher taxes, more regulations, and more mandates will try to reverse the strides we made in 2017. NFIB will support the legislators who championed our top priorities, including deregulation and the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and we will work hard to elect new members of Congress who will stand up for small business.

It will be an exciting year, and I thank you for your continued support and membership.

Sincerely,

Juanita D. Duggan, NFIB President and CEO
