Hear from your Virginia state director

Date: March 16, 2015

Dear NFIB/Virginia member,

The Virginia General Assembly finished their work and adjourned a day early this Session. NFIB/Virginia led the fight on defeating approximately 45 measures that would place burdensome mandates on small businesses such as minimum wage increases, paid sick leave, and increased taxes and fees. One challenge still facing the small business community is the final budget proposal approved by the General Assembly included the Governor’s original proposal to impose an accelerated sales tax payment this June on retailers with annual taxable sales over $2.5 million.

You still have the opportunity to contact the Governor’s Office asking him to amend the final budget to repeal this policy. You can reach his office at 804-786-2211.

Also, NFIB/Virginia is happy to announce an exciting event – The Small Business Economic Roadshow on Tuesday, April 7th at 12 noon at the Downtown Richmond Marriott. This luncheon program will feature the Chief Economists from NFIB and Visa – William Dunkelberg and Wayne Best. They will lead a discussion on the current state of the small business economy and how future trends will impact small businesses.

The luncheon is complimentary and we ask that you RSVP by March 31st by calling the NFIB/Virginia office at 804.377.3661 or sending an email to [email protected].

We hope to see you in Richmond on April 7th for this great presentation.

Sincerely,
Nicole Riley
NFIB/Virginia State Director
