A Letter From Your NFIB/Virginia State Director

A Letter From NFIB/Virginia State Director

As I write this letter, the Virginia General Assembly is gearing up for the 2015 General Assembly Session. The Legislative Session will convene on Wednesday, January 14, followed by the filing of thousands of pieces of legislation, possibly affecting your livelihood as a small business owner.

Some proposals have already been announced such as increasing the minimum wage to $10.10 in three years, requiring retailers to submit the sales tax earlier so the Commonwealth can cover some of its budget shortfall, and increased fees on restaurants.

It takes boots on the ground to stop bad legislation. I encourage you to get engaged and help legislators put a face to small business — attend the 2015 Small Business Day at the Capitol.

Join NFIB/Virginia in our efforts to keep Virginia a business friendly state and protect your right to own, operate and grow you small business!

We’ll be meeting in Richmond on Monday, January 26, 2015 with an opening reception where legislators and staff will be attending. Then we’ll visit legislators on the Hill Tuesday morning, January 27th. The cost of the event is $45 per person. Please contact Kristie Helmick at [email protected] or 804.377.3661 to save your spot!
