An Update on Alabama's Financial Hole

Date: May 19, 2015

Rosemary Elebash, NFIB/Alabama state director, gives an update on discussions about the state's government spending and bills regarding the issue.

Dear NFIB/Alabama members,

As the Alabama Legislature passed the midpoint of the 2015 legislative session, neither the General Fund Budget or the Education Trust Fund Budget has received legislative approval. There is continued discussion of how to plug the financial hole in the General Fund budget, but no tax bills have received committee approval. Discussions are ongoing about how to cut government spending and manage public employees pension and healthcare costs. The Legislature is required to end the Regular Session no later than June 15.

Sincerely,
Rosemary Elebash
NFIB/Alabama State Director
