A letter from your Alabama state director

Date: March 15, 2015

The 2015 Alabama legislative session begins on March 3 at noon and will conclude no later than Monday, June 15. The legislative make-up includes 25 Senate Republicans, nine Democrats and 1 Independent. The House has 72 Republicans and 33 Democrats. With both chambers having a super majority, it is likely the legislative Republican agenda for the House and Senate will be passed and on Governor Bentley’s desk by March 19. The “Alabama First” House legislative agenda includes some business-friendly bills including a proposal to increase by $5 million funding for scholarships in career tech, changes to economic incentives and repeal of some 300 “obsolete, unenforceable and unneeded laws that are currently on the books.”
